Does not seem to be a way for a plugin to update a version string for a resource that cannot be auto-discovered.

If I have a resource that was manually discovered, and I later update that managed product's software so its version is changed, there is no way for our inventory to reflect the new version of that resource.

making this critical - of all the JIRAs I've entered the past day or two, this is the one that doesn't really have a workaround. It should be addressed in the next release.

read the forum and it makes perfect sense. manually discovered resources shouldn't be 2nd class citizens; they should be afforded all the same rights and privileges that auto-discovered resources get. ; )

we'll see if we can sneak this in for the 1.1 release.
