This is an interesting one. Wenever you Associate a channel to a content source, or subscribe a resource to the channel - the page is opened in a new browser tab.
The same happens when you choose a CP to deploy.
But, this does NOT happen on the Resource | Package | Subscriptions page when you click the "subscribe" button to add the resource to a channel -- maybe comparing a page where it doesn't happen, to a page that does, will help to narrow down the problem.
